HDUM has been appointed as the Marine Warranty Surveyor for the LNG pipe laying project in Hong Kong. From the loading of the pipe to the laying of the pipe, HDUM has monitored the project entirely. We are glad and proud to witness the official launch of the Terminal on July 13.
The first offshore LNG Terminal in Hong Kong, jointly developed and built by Hong Kong China Light and Power Co., Ltd. (CLP) and Hongkong Electric Co., Ltd. (HK Electric), was officially put into operation. It is the world’s largest FSRU (Floating Storage Regasification Unit) and also Hong Kong’s first offshore LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) Terminal.
The initiative is a critical step in supporting Hong Kong Government’s plan to increase the low-carbon power generation of the two power plants, improve fuel supply stability and support Hong Kong’s energy transformation.
CLP and HK Electric announced that the first batch of LNG supplied to Hong Kong has arrived at the receiving terminal a few days ago. After unloading, it will be stored in the world’s largest large FSRU “Bauhinia Spirit”. And after regasification, it will be transported to CLP Lung Kwu Tan Power Plant and HK Electric Lamma Power Plant for use. The first batch of LNG arrived is about 139,000 cubic meters which is enough to provide electricity for about 1.5 million households in Hong Kong.
