Mr. De Silva started his career in 1979 with Sri Lanka port authorities, and went on to become the chief engineer on-board ocean-going vessels by 1990. After continuing as CE for some time, he switched ashore as a shipyard manager overseas and at home country. He was also responsible as a country manager for DNV GL for 10+ years for Sri Lanka. He has been very actively present in P&I surveys and representations, H&M surveys for underwriters, Pre-purchase surveys and also carrying out audits for ISM/ISPS/MLC for shipping companies. He is also registered surveyor and assessor of Ceylon chamber of commerce. Mr. De Silva, as an IHM expert, has good training, qualifications knowledge and experience to perform IHM Surveys.
